“callitcovid”, “The Myth”, and “My Sister”
“callitcovid” – Hate crimes against the Asian-American community surged by nearly 150% in 2020 and there is an urgent need to spread awareness. This film uses disturbing images set to a poem with some chilling language to highlight anti-Asian discrimination.
“The Myth” – a new film exposing the myth of The Model Minority: a false narrative weaponizing Asian Americans against other ethnic groups.
“My Sister” – This film – this occasion poem – is a response to what is happening today. To the women of Iran. The women of Afghanistan. The women of the United States of America. The women of the world. What of their safety? Their education? Their choice? “My Sister” amplifies how communities have mobilized, and recognizes those efforts not as isolated protests, but as a single, global revolution. This film is an effort to unify, and offer solidarity to those progressing this movement, by identifying them as we do in Asian cultures: Not as strangers, but as sisters.
